:: Flor ::

#01-01, 2 Duxton Hill

Always pleasant to end lunch on a sweet note..
I’m glad Flor is near office, on a nice-weather day..
erm, not exactly near, so don’t tell my bosses if my lunch is taking longer than usual .. sshh..

Been there thrice and sampled 5 cakes ~ $6ish each, not exactly cheap, but i suppose u pay for the creativity of the chef, and the quality of ingredients?

In the order of my preference:

Do dropby when u are in the vicinity.

^.^

:: L'Operetta ::

78, 79 Boat Quay

I'm a big fan of pizza. I find pleasure in chill-out with pizza with wine/beer.

Here at L'Operetta helmed by a Jap chef, serves very tasty pizza base. It is slightly saltish and great on its own.

Very white and classy decor, thus not quite ideal for a group of boisterous ladies chit-chat. Small families and couple date would have been more suited.

We ordered:
Burrata e Prosciutto di Parma con Pomodorini Semi Secchi
~ Garden Fresh Tomato Burrata Cheese and Luscious Prosciutto Ham Fungi

Spaghetti con salsa al Nero di Seppia con Calamari
~ Squid Ink Pasta tossed with Calamari

Tagliata di Manzo con Pomodori Marinati, Rucola e Scaglie di Parmigiano

~ Sliced Beef topped with Tomato Marinade, served with Parmesan and Rocket Salad

2 pizza - but i could only ID Al Funghi

Not the typical thin-crusted pizza, but very chewy pizza, moist, and well-done.

Will I go back again:
Definitely, they were all great, but when I feel like splurging ; )

PS: read that the restaurant is getting Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN) certification, not sure what that means, but sounds like something good.

My new toy :: Zojirushi breadmaker ::

I finally got off my feets and bought this machine, after months of pondering. Not coz it’s expensive, more worried that it will become a white elephant in the kitchen given my laziness.

But with colleagues’ constant cajoling, succumbed to temptation and bought it eventually.

My first attempt of the basic honey bread:
Looks good eh? ; )
Smells great & taste decent too..

So is it cheaper to make your own?

Nah, coz you would tend to get more expensive ingredients for yourself N family.

But the aroma of freshly-made bread – P R I C E L E S S..
Bon appetite
