:: Cafés hop hop ::

Finally got rid of my cast and declared freedom!
MIA on my blog. Catch-up on new cafes, celebrations, travelling.
Of coz back to swim & run :D

Here's my report card ::

Forty Hands
@ 78 Yong Siak St #01-12
Definitely the 'in' district to be in.
This café is indeed popular. Packed even during weekday crowds. Amazing.
Aromatic & very decent cappu coupled a hearty mushroom sandwich for lunch – damage of $14. Pretty standard of café nowsadays.
Very polite service staff.
Will visit again when I’m in the vicinity, but won’t attempt to go on weekends

Orange Thimble
@ 56 Eng Hoon St #01-68
~ 10mins walk from 40hands. Pretty unique name, don’t u think? I wonder what’s the link.
Did not try their cappu but ordered one of the cold beverages. Very quenching on a hot day.
This is a pretty nice chillout area too, with photographs of the neighbourhood.
Interestingly we saw patrons from 40hands as well, I suppose they are hopping around the cafes too.

 The Muffinry
@ 112 Telok Ayer st
New kid @ CBD area and very near to my ex-office
Very limited seats, so you will have to be real early if you want to lunch there.

Limited menu though – twice while I was there, I had the same roast chicken with avocado + a cappu (with Papa Palhea beans – aka parent of Loysel toy).
I guess the main variation will be what to have for dessert
Their main sellers are the muffins - standard sweet and savory flavours.
The choc and lavender ones are pretty decent, have not tried the ham & cheese one thou. Though at $2ish each, I think I shall stick to my staple of ChocNspice.

Crème bulee was pleasing to the palate, worth a try.
Saw many people takeaway their carrot cake – for $2.5 a small cube piece, I’m still trying to convince myself.

Chock full of Beans
@ 4 Changi Village road #01-2090

The barista was very accommodating. Tried his best to fulfil all our latte art requests.
Pity I didn’t really like the sourish after-taste in the cappu.

Toby's Estate
@ 8 Rodyk St
Another happening area littered with cafes and pubs. Not too accessible without car though.
Very helpful staff. Huge communal table indoors for sharing. We were seated outdoors, good for people watching - joggers, dog-strollers..
Tried the cheesecake - it was just alrite..
Another cappu with slight sourish aftertaste, otherwise great place to spend an idyllic afternoon.

Choupinette
@607 Bt Timah road #01-01
This has been on my radar for ages, but due to its location, it did not reached the top of my list until an opportunity presented itself.
9am breakfast gathering on NY eve. My friends weren’t very happy about such early timing, but all agreed to entertain me.
Most of the patrons are regulars, gathered from the way the staff greeted them. Pretty limited seating too.

Breakfast & cappu were average i thought. Heard the macarons are really good here, but I actually forgot to try! ): Got distracted by the xmas-gifts exchange.
